Tourists and
Sea Turtles go for the beaches
Once remote and inaccessible, Ras Al Had was a
safe nesting ground for thousands of Green sea
turtles (Chelonia mydas) coming from the four
corners of the Arabian Sea.
Today's boom of the tourism industry in Oman represents
a great challenge for the authorities. They may
want to attract as many tourists as possible,
but at the same time must keep them at a safe
distance from the wildlife they try to protect.
