The impenetrable
fortress of Nizwa
Dating from 1668 this fort and the adjacent
castle were built to guard the Sumail Gap, a passage
through the mountains, connecting the coasts of
Oman with the interior regions of the Arabian
peninsula.
Its massive structure was designed to withstand
the most agressive sieges.
